About Czech School in Miami
Czech School in Miami is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Saturday school that teaches Czech to children ages 4 to 7 in South Florida. Kids learn through songs, games and stories: in person on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm at 2451 NE 186th St, Miami, FL 33180, or online on Sundays at 9:30am ET on Zoom, so families anywhere in Florida can join. Children don't need to speak Czech to start. Our head teacher, Mgr. Lenka Brinkman, is a qualified primary teacher who taught Czech in New York for 10 years. The school is backed by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is a member of Czech Schools in North America. Your first class is free, online or in person.

Our teachers read the Czech fairy tales and bedtime stories you grew up with. About 15 to 20 minutes, right before bed. Kids just listen.

Our story
Jitka wanted a place where her daughter could play and learn with other Czech kids in Miami. The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed Miami needed a Czech school, and in summer 2023 introduced her to Jana, who had just moved from New York. Together they built one.

2023
Czech School in Miami is founded, with support from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Early 2024
We become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
February 2024
First classes, at the American Czech Slovak Cultural Club.
Fall 2024
Workshops and celebrations begin, with more than 100 people at Mikuláš.
2025
Seven family workshops, from an Easter egg hunt to Mikuláš and Christmas.
Spring 2026
Our first online classes, as a pilot.
Summer 2026
Lenka Brinkman joins as our head teacher.
September 2026
Saturday classes move to their own classroom.
October 2026
Weekly online classes begin, live on Zoom on Sundays.
Questions
My child doesn't speak Czech. Can they join?
Yes. Beginners are welcome: children learn Czech through songs, games and stories, so they pick it up by playing along. Lenka meets each child where they are, whether they hear Czech every day or only from a grandparent.
What happens at the free Saturday?
Bring the kids, meet Lenka, Jitka and Jana, and decide afterward. There's nothing to pay that day. Book a free class.
What ages are the classes for?
Ages 4 to 7, in person on Saturdays in Miami and online on Sundays. Lenka, our head teacher, is a qualified primary teacher who taught Czech in New York for 10 years, and she meets each child where they are.
Do you have online classes?
Yes. A free online class on Zoom, Sundays at 9:30am ET, for ages 4 to 7, live with Lenka for 45 minutes, so families anywhere can join. Book a free class.
